I’ve been a sucker for women in boots ever since the third grade.  The whole class knew that when Miss Fishbein wore her black boots, she had a hot date after school.  Artists sort of have an obligation to make their sexual obsessions look good;  and I am convinced that the only women who don’t look better in boots are the mermaids.

A stoned blunder, somehow I overlooked that I already had a maze for November 28.  Probably for the same reason, I have two mazes for September 7.  The weird part is that the two September sevens could be portraits of the same woman.

The “straight whorls” were the next evolution of my web illusion.  I wrap straight lines around the web to create optical confusion;  while the eye may not see the web, it is drawn to the focal point.  It’s as if your brain was falling into the picture.  The photos don’t quite capture the effect, you’ll have to come to my next art show to lose your mind in the real fluorescent colors.

My previous portraits were side views.  Unfortunately, very few people look good from the side, conventional beauty is perceived frontally.  Here I attempted to use abstracts for the frontal view, but not a one of them came out looking like any woman I had in mind.  Any resemblance to Katie Couric is purely coincidental.

My next volley of portraits benefitted from my now perfect web backgrounds.  This one slightly resembles Katie the Wonderhorse, a beautiful woman who worked in my Chelsea gallery.  4/6/10 somehow reminds me of Taylor Swift.
