Papillion escapes. I don’t recall exactly how the inspiration struck me, I suspect the usual causes, but one day I realized that I could paint butterflies. My first try came out resembling an amoeba, but it looked so cool that someone snapped it up right away. After the usual trial and error, the butterflies took to the air accompanied by haiku directed at my mailing list.
A half a world away from the front, Sensitive Samurai, the poet warrior, writes:

Butterfly Attack Squadron-the next mission. In this painting, the squadron appears to have located the target and is poised for the assault. But wait, is that top butterfly diving towards the target or has the butterfly been painted upside down? Sure enough, turn the painting upside-down, and the three butterflies are almost right-side up.
Far away in the Far East, Sensitive Samurai, the poet warrior, is inspired by nature.

Butterfly Attack Squadron-escape from danger. The evasive action succeeds after the squadron leader drops his excrement right into the spider’s eye.
At this point, the butterfly project looked really bad on paper. A fifty-eight year old man spends five months of his life painting psychedelic butterflies; were I ever come up before a judge, he’d send me right to the funny farm. On the other hand, I couldn’t imagine that it would make any legal difference whether I painted them for five months or six months, so I continued.
